why would an old, good,mature friend with a steady girlfriend make a physical pass at you?

Given the circumstances, I'd say he was just wanted a quick peice. If you've been friends that long then I'm sure hes pretty comfortable and confident around you so he saw you as a perfect candidate. He must've been a bit drunk or thought for some reason you would be cool with it(did you invite him to stay the night?) Guys can have a hard time reading signals unfortunatly. But chances are hes pretty embarassed about it now and regrets what hes done. I've seen the most honest guys cheat, just some guys cant control themselves in certain situations. I know I've felt the pressure before, sex is a big deal to alot of guys.

Can I assume alcohol was involved. That's part of the reason. But normally alcohol is not the motive, only the excuse to make a pass. He has known you for 7 years, and probably wanted to do this 7 years ago, but either he or yourself was in a situation with someone else. So, the best occasion didn't arrive until he stayed over. And, did he inform you he is still with his "other?" Maybe at this time, there is no other and him? And, he'd like you to be his "other" now? But, it seems he didn't pursue the matter further than just a pass, so again I'm assuming he just wanted to see how far his "good nature" would allow him to go.

First off you're a good person and that is a big help.Secondly some men read things with girl friends that they think is sexual.Most of the time it's not,some times it is.

Thirdly this guy has a crush on you and was seeing if it is mutual before risking his current relationship,a stupid way of doing it,but the way he saw would best tell him(can't think outside his square)And lastly it is more likely that a woman will do this then a man,so just remember that,as i know you are intelligent and will see this as what it is.A pass to see if you have any feelings towards him.

You think its men. A women told me all about her husband the other day on a flight by the time we got on the bus to rental cars she gave me her hotel and room number. Its people not just men. Men just talk about it less because guys say, Did you hit it? Yes you did. Yeah right.

Hmm....yes, it has happened with me. I don't know! Another guy friend of mine told me that men don't wanna let opportunities pass by and he chuckled. Maybe he was kidding, but he could have been right too.

From a woman's perspective, they think they can have their cake and it eat it too! Honestly, maybe he expects to get something from you that he isn't getting from his girlfriend that he isn't communicating to her about.
