if you havent got acid soil build a raised bed and fill with acid soil which you can buy at garden centers and plant heathers into this they are also better watered with rainwater so if you have a rain butt use this when its not raining

heathers are best put slightly more in shade than in direct sunlight. buy a blue one, when they flower the colour is amazing

they look really good in rockery style gardens as their natural habitat includes the rocky mountainsides in scotland, remember to prune them back at least few centimetres every year to keep them fresh and bushy and not woody stems all over the place
