What would be the best kinda of motorcycle for a 1 month trip across the US?

If you have a month the Harley will be fine, but if your in a hurry you should get the Honda Goldwing.

For a long ride like this, I would think you'd want something quiet and smooth, which pretty much leaves the Harleys out of the picture. Most other bikes, unless modified, will be much quieter.

I can't imagine riding for any length of time on something that vibrates so much, and that noise! I think by the time you got off, you'd be tingling and your ears would be buzzing.

I am not a Harley fan, obviously, but despite my prejudices, I think these points are valid.

Honda Goldwing

BMW

Harley Davidson Heritage Softail or Road King

Honda Gold Wing

Honda Aspencade.

Harley (soft-tail) Nothing rides like a Harley. Go look at most other bikes and you will see they try to copy a Hog.

my personal preference is almost any Harley Davison- but Honda Goldwings are supposed to ride pretty well

All the BS aside? A Honda or BMW.

Reliable. Handles well.

Now if all you want is looks...well then get a HD. ;)
