How do I build a network with my Mac and PC and USB printer?
I have a cable modem. Would like to be able to print from both computers to the printer. Would like to have the Pc on a wireless connection and the Mac on a wire connection (for security). What's the cheapest way to do this?
The reason I want the Mac to be wired is because I do my shopping on it, and want it to be secure. The PC is a laptop and I play a lot on it, so I'd like it to be wireless.

well, it's possible to do with cheap components but you'll need some experience.
I did before a network which included 5 PC, 2 Macs,2 printers & a DSL connection. Still wondering why you want your Mac to a wire and you PC to be wirelessly ?
Have a very deep breath & lets start :
1.Lets assume that your Cable modem is connected to a router if it's not built-in already. If not, I suggest you to buy a Linksys wireless Router 54G which has one wan port so you connect the network cable form your modem to it & 4-lan ports so we connect a network cable to the back of your MAC.
2.Your router is configured to give automatic IP addresses to the computers & so the internet works fine.
3.You have a wireless network card installed in your PC by a USB port or internally, & it connects to the router & browse the net.
4.Your printer is connected to your PC & prints. Then go to start=Printers & Faxes, you should be seeing your printer then do a right click on it and choose "Sharing". Choose "Share this printer" & then click ok.
5.Get a network cable form the router to the back of your MAC, there is hole which looks like a bigger phone –line socket, named with RJ-45. Then you go to your MAC setting, Ethernet, & choose DHCP for all (IP, DNS).
6.Now your MAC should be able to browse the net, Go to your Printer setup, Choose printer browser & you'll find the PC printer there , choose it & install it.
7.Congratulations , your network is done :D .
