My parents had an album called "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" It's spelled "Brel." Here's some info.
Jacques Brel (April 8, 1929 – October 9, 1978) was a Belgian French-speaking author-composer, considered by many as a poet as well, given the power of his lyrics. Known in the anglophone world for the translations of his songs, he is also remembered in French-speaking countries as an actor and director.

His name is Jacques Brel.
One of the most famous french-language singer that ever lived. (he is of Belgian origin). You probably know several of his songs. "Ne me quitte pas" is his most famous.
