We just had our (natrual) wood floors sanded and poly'd.....?
Can you suggest best ways for day to day care & long term care? Thanks!

Only thing to add to above answers is, your floors will look good a lot longer if you don't wear street shoes in the house. Take them off at the front door and put on slippers.

RULE 1- WOOD AND WATER DO NOT MIX!
Day to day, vacuum with a brush attachment and use one of those old fashioned dust mops (seriously the best tool)
For cleaning, use a slightly damp NOT WET mop with just warm water (I just use a towel folded over) for spot cleaning. Every other week I do a whole room damp towel cleaning. And I have a dog, a 3 year old and my hard wood floor is in a 36 x 35 foot room.
Oh and get floor protectors for all of you furniture - especially chairs. You can get them at hardware stores or Target.

lacquer is really not a good choice for wood floors because it is pretty soft and alcohol will do really nasty stuff to it. The best thing to put over the poly is a good floor wax....look up "janitorial supplies" in your yellow pages and go over and talk to them about it. Avoid the big box stores like lowes home depot and walmart...they ruin your local economy and sell inferior products

Aside from the obvious sweeping, use a diluted vinegar and water solution for mopping.

Painted it with clear lacquer.Wax it regularly, mop with minimum water just wet will do.No excessive water.keep it dry all the time.water is the enemy of wood
