Why do so many Christians ask questions on here that can be easily answered by reading the Bible?

Don't they actually read the book they base their faith on?It's like not reading the user's manual.P.S. I've read it cover to cover several times.

I think the reason is that people are trying to show how smart they are about religion and they are also trying to convert other people any way they can.

Remember that no matter how much you think you know, you can always learn something from the person that you least expect it from.

I think its a lot better to ask and then look in to your bible.

If you ask other people, You will see other points of view, you could actually learn something, you will have a more objective point of view on the questions you have.

The bible is ambiguos. If you read it alone, its not enough.

We all have questions. If you think you know so much that you dont need to ask anyone, I think that you dont know enough indeed.

Some People ask because they dont know in what part of the bible they can find those answers. Its a lot easier to ask than to start searching page after page.

People who are members of some religions can recite bible chapters, people from other religions dont do that, they read the bible but not all of it.

Its like you do read the users manual, but only the parts that interest you, like how to set it up, what to do if it breaks down, etc.

The bible has more interpretations than any book ever written, so when you claim the answers are within the bible, you are correct, but you are also incorrect.

The words are in the bible, but interpreting those words is obviously a full time job and leads to millions of different conclusions.

Regarding other questions, such as example given earlier about word definitions, I've often wondered the same. Why would anyone post a question that can be answered by using a search engine, such as google?

People read the Bible, but people don't always know how to interpret it although it is sometime straight forward in the Bible. Sometimes you need to know the history behind a verse or story to understand it completely. Example, the Bible do not really mean an eye for an eye. Verse sounds straight forward, but it's not. To understand the Bible without asking Questions you have to be genius and know all the history and Bible off hart. The Bible is not encrypted, but just more complex as many would think.

First of all you do not read the bible from cover to cover.. it is not meant to be read that way. Thought I shed that insight first..

Maybe the people that ask questions regarding the bible.. don't always understand what they are reading.. or might need help with Scripture...Another thing I assume alot of people on here what approval of what they believe or think on the subject... So they post a question... to see if others are on that same wave length.. And others like peoples opinions...as well...

That's great for you. It's a shame, you've read it cover to cover so many times and still don't understand what it is you are actually talking about...Yes, we read the Bible, but questions remain. You're right, it's not like reading the user's manual - it is the most complex and deep text you will ever read, whether you know it or not.

I agree. Christians should be learning about why they believe what they believe and know that the truth is not afraid of scrutiny.

But I also think that people who do not read the Bible should refrain from quoting to try to disprove it, as they often have no idea whatsoever what they are talking about. If someone can't find something, then I don't mind. But if they are misrepresenting the meaning and context without being educated on either, that can sometimes work my nerves.

Sometimes interaction with others is easier than trying to understand the written word. I have read the Bible several times myself but I don't get mad when people ask questions or my opinion about certain things written in it. I certainly don't tell them, Hey go read it yourself, you sharing your knowledge may help them clarify what they have read, or if they haven't read it you may just be the one person that influences them to go pick it up and read it. That my friend would in a sense make you a disciple of Christ because you are helping to spread the word. Getting mad, that is the opposite of Christs teachings, patience and understanding is the key.

Why not? It's not an obligation to read the Bible, when you can get the answer from a place like that. And also is a way to see what other people think.
