If the treated lumber is left to dry (and it takes a looong time to do that) it can be painted. I painted deck railing, but I waited an entire year for all the chemicals in the treating process to dry and weather. I primed first then coated with a latex paint. I have to admit it lasted a good long time, but if I had to chose a finish today, I'd never paint, I'd stain. Staining lasts and looks better longer.

I would recommend using an oil based primer first, and a 100% acrylic for your finish coat. If Oil based primers aren't available in your area, a latex will be alright, but use a slow drying latex, NOT a fast drying stain killer type primer. a slower drying primer will penetrate into the wood, and give you a better bond. Go to your local paint store, they will have more knowledge/experience than the average lowes/home depot employee. for more info:

Stop!!!! Before you paint!!!! Yes the people above are correct it is paintable, but if you think looking for years at those little dimple marks will bother you, fill them with an exterior wood filler, sand flush & then prime & paint. You'll be glad you did.

yes, but you need to build what you are building and let the project dry outside for a few weeks....use a good primer before u paint the project.....go to a LOCAL paint store and ask for advice on which primer to use NOT WALMART, LOWES OR HOME DEPOT

    Yes.

Yes, but a stain looks real nice on it and protects it from the elements.

yeppers - paints great adn doesn't take as much as non treated wood because it doesn't absorb paint the same way
