I wouldn't use the unsubscribe unless you trust the company sending the message. Unfortunately, some of the bad spammers use the unsubscribe to validate that you have a live address and will *increase* their efforts instead of stopping :(

You can reduce the time that the messages live in the Bulk mail folder -- down to the point where they are not delivered.

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/spam/spam-14.ht... tells how to do this.

Quit using your primary Email address to long onto web sites. If you have Yahoo mail and have the Disposable Address feature, use it. When emails start coming to that address, just delete the address and you'll get no more of the emails being sent to it.

If you don't have this then set up a second email account for the emails you want. Only give that address to people you trust. Then let the old email account go idle and in 60-90 yahoo will terminate it along with all the spam it had.

Start hitting unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails. Keep doing it until they quit happening so frequently. It may take a long time.
