Try searching the web under ARACHNOID. This is the animal family that spiders come from. Also try searching under ENTOMOLOGY ( THE STUDY OF INSECTS ) Other pertintent terms will be Black Widow, Brown Recluse, etc.
There is a product made by ORTHO called Home Defense that I would use inside and out that IS VERY effective, and very safe when used as diretcted. Follow the instructions closely, and it will keep your home spider free for about 6 months.

The department of Natural Resources will have a website. You'll probably have to type in your area as far as finding different species. Just be careful of black spiders with red areas and brown recluse spiders. Those two are probably the most dangerous. Recluses have the little fiddle or wineglass type marks on them. They are shy (thus the name) but will bite in defense, if disturbed, and are bad news. There are lots of spiders that are harmless, except to other bugs.
