What do you think about the idea of a Gay Homeland?

I have seen on the internet the Gay Homeland Foundation where they are working to try and create an actual nation for Gay and Lesbians (not sure about Bisexuals, Transgendered people and of course it would include the heterosexual children of same-sex families I'd imagine, too). I found the Unified Gay Tribe, The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom also on the internet. In fact the GLKCSI was mentioned on the news site 365gay.com, yet the others are either break away groups from it or they are unique like the Gay Homeland Foundation. I was wondering:

Is anyone here helping with the formation of a gay homeland?

If a gay homeland was formed would you move there? And just out of curiousity, where do you think is the most likely place on Earth geographically that the gay homeland would be placed? What do you think it should be called?

Just to say: yes I'd move there if it occurs in my lifetime, just hope its a democracy.

I liked the idea initially, but after thinking about it have decided its a horrible idea. Why have a central location where crazed Christian/Islamic/Other religious groups can easily come over and destroy us? Furthermore, why should we move? We aren't the ones with the problem.

I think it would be the most hated nation on earth. And I think there is no where on earth where there are not already inhabitants so I am afraid it would end up having very bad wars like in Israel/Palestine today. And no nations would come to their aid because of fear of losing votes.

I don't see why Gays should have to have a separate place. Tehre will always be gays being born in the non-gay lands. They won't all want to move out of their home country just to go live in that Gay nation. So it seems pointless to me.

Actually, I believe that if the gay/lesbian community got together and wanted a nation, why not? I think that alot of people's problems are that they try too hard to get along with people that don't like them, and don't try hard enough to meet people just like them. Tolerance is a two way street, but, as it was on another question, nobody is totally tolerant. I also say the same for blacks, whites, jews whatever. If your happier among your own kind, stick with it! That's pretty much common sense. But also respect others.

You know, they tried the same thing with African-Americans in the 19th. They tried to ship the whole lot off to Liberia. What this idea of the Gay Homeland is is segregation.

I am bi, but would not move to such a land. One is american (or british or french, etc.) first, then a homosexual.

Well, we could. We could form a 'homeland', if we think that the most important way we define ourselves is our sexual orientation. But, I won't go. I'm a lot of other things too: I have a culture that is unique to my country, and a shared history with my fellow citizens, and with the co-speakers of my language and with the co-practicioners of my religion. I like it here. This is my home.

Do you despise non gays so much that you don't want any of them living in the same society as you?I'm having trouble understanding why you would like to distance yourself from people who don't advertise their sexual orientation but have much to offer any society.I,like everyone, have my own sexual preferences, but I like to keep them between myself and my partner and have absolutely no desire to become part of any community whose members have the same preferences as I have.I would think that, should any homeland be formed anywhere, then political ideaology would be a more valid reason for its formation.

Yeah, A Gay Homeland would be great! Call it Soddum & Gomorah II.

I think it would be nicer if the rest of the world just started fully accepting gay people and stopped being so judgmental.

Sounds like segregation. Would we be running TO something or running FROM something. My life doesn't revolve around my gayness. I'm a bit more well rounded than that.
