    6 marbles. Since they stand right next to each other, the length is going to be (# of marbles) * (diameter) = 9.

    if the diameter of the marble is 3/2 then you need 6 marbles because 3/2 times 6/1 equals 18/2 and 18/2 can be reduced to 9

    You need 6 marbles in line to make 9".

    9/(3/2) = (9/1)/(3/2) = (9/1)*(2/3) = (18/3) = 6

    you will need 6 marbles to make a row of 9 inches long.

    You can't use more than six marbles. One marble is scarcely a row of marbles. But you might call two marbles a row, with marble spacing of 7.5 inches (center to center).
