Methadone for bi-polar?

I have a theory of using a low amount of opiates to give that calming effect to the brain. Giving that most medications still have severe withdrawl to them what would be diffrent.

Anyone who has researched or to some extent of knowledge is welcome. This is a taboo thing for the doctors but if there is any real docs get a hold of me for a serious conversation. Would also like some pharmacutical info on taking a 40mg methadone disk. Can I take it 10mg at a time? And what is the best way to dissolve it?

    1. Bi-polar has Extreme Highs and Extreme lows. Methadone will only bring the highs down but will intensify the lows.

    2. If the methadone disk is created to have a "time-release" breaking it up will counter act the time release and you would not get the correct dosage distributed through your system as designed.

to treat bi-polar disorder i would stick the traditional methods. methadone is highly addictive and the benifits though good on paper do not out weight the cons. breaking the methadone will pretty much make it into really expensive powder due to the fact that some manufactures have added a covering to ditract users from snorting it. once more stick to traditional methods and leave the methadone for treating addictive conditions which at this point seems to do well. I am a biochem grad student and intern at a pharmacy but am not a doctor so take what i say only with a grain of salt due to the fact that i am more incline on reading into the chemical make up not theoretical aspects.
