We have a medium sized back yard with no trees or bushes .It has lots of green grass and no weeds..?

Would love to put up a gazibo or trellis or plant a flower garden, but my husband and I are both disabled, and have a VERY limited budget.. What would be the best way to fix up the yard , and make it pretty, so we could set out there and enjoy it?

Try an ad on a local Freecycle type group and ask for plants and yard stuff. Search out yard sales and flea markets and thrift stores if you are able, lots of good deals. Call your town or city, some of them have a day where people can drop off their usable items and pick up what others don't want...they call it by different names.

I don't know where you are from, but here in Australia, there are a few programs on tv that you can apply to in the hopes of having someone come and do over your garden (I'm talking the do it yourself type of programs). This is an option if you think you would like to go through with your garden being made over for free to appear on a tv program.

Or try the following website, it offers information on plants etc as well as cheap, low water options and how you can exchange plants with others as well as a forum for chatting with others and asking questions etc...

    Addition:

I just had an idea, and that's that you could do a little bit of research into what plants are native to your area as these are the ones that are most likely to do well and require less care.

Also, if you get on well with your neighbours and they have plants and flowers that you like that do well, ask if you can have a clipping to try and plant this yourself, some plants will do better than others in this way, but they are free, so there's no loss, right?

First you want evergreens. That will save you the trouble of transplanting or having a dead garden. It also means less to clean up. I recommend rosemary and other herbs. Flowering shrubs work too.

I'd get the 10'*10' Party Canopy (or something like it)

Get a nice outdoor bench and have extra chairs for guests.

You can also put out trays of bird seed to attract birds.

it will be important for you to kave a low maintenence garden. i dont know where youare from, but some cheap low maintenance plants arethe go.

plant pittosporum near the edges, and choose azaleas or something similar for your flowerbeds

a patio area is cheap, and once its in you can entertain, and then builda cover over itwhen your budget allows.

maybejust build a basic timber covering, and let jasmine trail all over it.
