ADSL router will not work for a cable internet connection. ADSL = asyncronys digital subscriber line = home user DSL

As for the question. just depends on what you want the router to do. all the brand out there are very comparable to each other, some offer better features then others, some have usb print servers built in, most have wireless access, etc, etc... just read what they all offer and choose the cheapest one that does everything you want.

I asked this myself not too long ago when I replaced my aging 802.11b router. Pretty much any router you buy will work well with your cable modem (Netgear, Linksys, Belkin, DLink, SMC)

I have had good experiences with Linksys and DLink...both are built on a long tradition and are rock solid routers. Both DLink and Linksys are pretty easy to setup as well. Linksys is owned by Cisco. The Cisco brand name carries some clout in the networking arena. Both companies strive to have the router working as quickly as possible right out of the box.

I would have to say hands down that the Lynksys Brand Routers are the best buy price and efficiency wise. Most of their routers have a built in Firewall in addition to your firewall on your computer

I have Linksys router/firewall with four port switch that serves my little home network well. I have two computers and a music bridge attached. It is very simple and easy to use. It cost about $50.00.

I prefer linksys or netgear. Just look for something that has a built in firewall... your basic nat, dhcp support and that should get you up and running with a basic SIMPLE set up.

linksys, dlink, microsoft, hey are all about the same, just don't go for the low budget ones, they don't hold up
