Have you heard of the Kentucky Derby?

Basically, I'm from Louisville, Ky, and everyone here loves the Kentucky Derby, it's a huge celebration. Everyone always talks about how popular and famous the race is... So I'm just curious, for those of you who aren't from Kentucky.. What do you know about the race, and will you be watching it this Saturday???

Yes, as an outsider I can tell you it is a pretty big deal everywhere else. Nowhere near how popular it is in Louisville, but most will watch it or find out who won. And EVERYBODY has heard of it.

I'm from MA, and I go to a Kentucky Derby party every year. The race is well known all across the USA. I usually don't hear of the horses until about 3 days before the race, though.

The Kentucky Derby is very well known. It is one of the main horse races in the country. I believe it is 1 1/2 mile. It is part of the triple crown.

I think just about everyone knows about the Kentucky Derby even if they are not horse racing fans.

I have known about it all my life beacuse my uncle was a trainer and Kentucky is the heart of racing and breeding of race horses.

I like basketball too and because of the racing connection I am Kentucky Wildcat fan.

I'm from New Jersey. I know it's a horse race and is part of the set of races known as the "Triple Crown". You're supposed to drink mint juleps while watching it.

I won't be watching this weekend, but I did go to a Derby party a couple of years ago.

I know tons about the race. It is held at a track I would not bring my mother to. $40 to for the infield is a rip off. The drinks are overpriced and horrible. It is the first of two prep races for the Belmont Stakes. I will be watching, but I am not happy ESPN has the race.

I have heard of the Kentucky Derby. I just know what it is, nothing more than that.

i'm sorry... but horse racing is basically a 100 lb man balancing on a little bit of iron, tottally at the mercy of a 1,000+ lb animal who could at any time bolt/rear/buck during a race and instantly kill the jockey. ya think they would've done that already if the jockeys were abusing the animal in any way. i'm currently going to vet school and i totally approve of horse racing as long as it's done humanly. which it is as long as you follow ntra rules.

now... yes!! i have heard of it & i'm loving every bit of it!! 1 1/4 miles. best 1 1/2 minutes of sports if u ask me! (unless ur talking about a lakers game. lol) I wish i could go, but i have school. but i'm definatly watching. GO POINT DETERMINED!!!!

As a non-horserace follower, i can say that most Americans think the K. Derby is the biggest horserace of the year, but most of us have all heard of the Derby.Next week right?

with as many horse tracks that are affiliated with CDSN I'm sure there are plenty of people that have heard of it and will have a place to bet on it. If you don't know where you can bet it from and want to www.churchilldowns.com to locate a OTB or track near you!!! also some great handi-capping tools.... Good Racing!!!!
