Why not buy more oil from Meico instead of these unstable Middle eastern countries?

Woudn't this cut down our shipping costs , and help improve Mexico's economy wich may leas to more mexicans staying in Mecio instead of comeing to the U.S. illegally

Different type of oil - Mexico has heavy crude which is more costly to process. Also, Mexico's oil industry is nationalized and as a result very inefficient. They can't refine all they consume because they don't have the capital to expand so much of what is shipped to the U.S. is refined here and returned to them to sell in Pemex stations. Besides, the Middle East needs the income. Take all 22 oil producing countries there and in North Africa and their combined GDP doesn't equal that of Spain.

The oil indistry is just about a monopoly. What they dictate, we pay. They even have an oil man running our country.

I doubt if there is enough oil in Mexico anyway. But we do get oil from South America. It's Citgo. If you want to show your displeasure to Bush and his oil monopoly, buy gas from Citgo.

Actually, the American government doesn't "buy" oil from the middle-east. They invade their countries and "steal" it.
