I will like some insights on a email that I have sent today, please let me know what you think !?
Hello Jim Rome,
Hope everything is fine with you, and want you to keep up the good work.
I was watching your shows today (May, 04 2006) when one of your guests ("the bullets" fan!) mentioned that 714 were is magical number. It hits me that a lot of people are looking at 714 as the home runs record while Aaron have 755, my thought is people should be more careful and respectful of the real record here, I have never seen this much frenzy about a second place record ever and I believe that we have witnesses something similar in the NBA without making too much noises. I don’t want to suggest that it is a race issue but it surely smells like it to me.
Placid, A fan from the East Bay Area,
I'm saying that people as I noticed give more attention to the 714 than the 755, I saddly believe that Bonds cheated and I almost don't care about what is happening to him. but since when passing the second has been that big of a deal, by the way he won't pass Aaaron certainly by his own choice or whatever.

I think most people respect Babe Ruth more than Hank Aaron. Not only because Ruth is white, but he is a truly monster. He hit far homeruns, he produces homeruns very frequently (only McGuire and Bonds have better at-bat ratio, but you know...). He was even a great pitcher. Anyway, Babe Ruth is a special player, special in many ways. Ask people about greatest hitter in the history, Babe Ruth would get most of the votes. Hank Aaron probably would get less votes than Willy Mays, or Micky Mentles.

I think that you think you have come up with something original here, and want to spice it up by calling it a racial issue. I have already read articles to the fact that baseball isnt going to have a party to celebrate it, since the record has already been broken, etc. So you are just parroting what has already been written by many journalists. And the reason its a big deal is because it is still a huge milestone, set by one of baseballs all-tiem great. But is going to be a lot bigger when he passes Hammerin Hank.
