There are a few options. First, you can download dependency walker and profile your browser. This will usually inform you of missing files. It is for more advanced users, however, and a more likely solution is to run a spy-ware scan using adaware and spy-bot search and destroy.

If all of these things do not work, or you want to try a simple solution, you can simply use a different browser. If you prefer internet explorer, you can download IE7 [it is a beta (bugs expected to appear)] or you can use opera, firefox, or one of the browsers that use the internet explorer engine like netscape, slimbrowser, etc.

You may also be able to find the nature of the problem by recalling what occurred that caused this problem. I have seen internet explorer generate an error due to a download of Sun Java, without making it the default java interpreter. Go to control panel, internet options, click the advanced tab, scroll down to sun java, place a tick mark to set as default.

If you have a version of windows that is not XP, you can update to the latest version of internet explorer, or you may be able to open control panel, add/remove programs, scroll to microsoft internet explorer, click uninstall - a dialog will appear that will ask if you want to uninstall, repair, or add/remove components.

I would also check the installed extensions for the browser. You can selectively disable each one - one by one - until you find the source of the problem, although this may not find the specific issue, it is another step in the troubleshooting process.
