Conventional medicine attempts to control the symptoms of illness. Let's say you have a headache, so you take aspirin and the headache goes away. That is good, but perhaps your head was hurting because your spine is out of alignment... you haven't fixed the problem, you have just gotten rid of the headache. Wholistic medicine will go after the root of the illness - in the headache case it would be the straightening of the spine to relieve the headache pain, rather than popping an aspirin or two. Wholistic medicines often include herbs, accupressure or accupuncture to stimulate your body to heal itself. Also, accupressure and massage therapy can reveal unseen internal problems because your body is one unit. If your head hurts it isn't isolated, the rest of your body will suffer with it, and you will notice the difference if you massage the fleshy part between the thumb and first finger. Normally a soft piece of flesh it will become tight and sensitive to massage during severe headaches. Massaging this area and the temples of the head, next to the eyes, during severe headaches has been known to relieve the severity of the headache without having to resort to conventional medicine. Sorry I don't have any websites to share except webMD.com which is a conventional medicine based website and www.wholistic-centre.com - and I don't know if they have anything to say about it as an issue itself, or as a controversy. I live in China and wholistic medicine is quickly being over run by the big drug companies - but those cover the symptoms and can have side effects. I think soon the world will be turning back to wholistic remedies and natural solutions to health problems. Good luck with your search.
