Can you mix birch and beech?

Our new bedroom currently has birch colour fitted integrated wardrobes. These are staying where they are. The room doors are beech colour (one leads to the landing and the other to the ensuite).We have seen an overbed fitment that is beech in colour that would fit into the room fine. But would they all clash or can this be done? The room is magnolia and the ceiling white.

Update:

these are both veneer not solid wood.

    I do not think they will clash but they will be different shades of `white' wood. Beech is generally darker and has a more prominant grain. Its a question of taste, sometimes coordinating colours work really well.

  • When I was taking Interior Design classes in college, the rule was to NOT MIX WOOD TYPES. I did then and still do disagree. I have pine and beech in the same space. If the lighting is adequate and your other colors compliment the blonds in your wood, then you will have a very warm space. The magnolia color... is it dark? Reds and warm woods always work in my opinion}

    Different woods have different colors and grains. All woods will blend with others.

    Yes and no. It just takes a little expermentation to adjust your stain colors and soaking time and you can make them look alike.
