I heard this puzzler on Car Talk, but never heard the answer...?

You have a rectangular-shaped cake (measurements are not important). You cut out a rectangular piece of the cake (measurements are not important). The piece can be cut out of any place in the cake - center, side, wherever.

Now you need to cut the cake in half, so that both halves are equal. You need to do this in one striaght line.

There are two ways to make this cut. I figured out one of them (along the height of the cake, so that you get a top half and a bottom half and they're equal), but for the life of me, I can't figure out the second way. Do you know how to solve this?

Update:

Again - the piece is cut out form ANYWHERE in the cake. I can't determine where it's cut out of.

According to Borat in Kazachstan Fox is a local delicacy, but when he asked the English hunters they were quite appauled to learn that some one ate the things. I would not recommend eating fox meat. It's very lean meat so probably tough as old boots and foxes are known cariers of diseases like rabies and a few related things.

simple you take the rectangle peice out of the center and you just cut it from one point of the cake to the other point of the cake in a diagnal line. \ / like that and boom two equal halves

Diagonally cut the piece of cake.
