Something to ponder over, don't get bent all out of shape. BUT--?
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we
continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other
countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

I think the concessions this country is making for immigrants is dispicable! This is the United States of America and Americans need to defend this country from these right winged idiots that think we need to bend over backwards to accomadate them and their languages and lifestyles.

Who said we are the country of choice? I have lived overseas and when you have to downplay you are an american, that doesn't make me feel like we are all that. We have our good points, but so do most of the countries in the world. America was built by immigrants. Our culture is very young compared to most in the world. If we pride ourselves on adaptability, then we have no right to complain about our culture evolving. My generation is having fewer children. Between my nine cousins and my brother and I, none of us have children. Most of us don't plan on having them either, for right now. Of my friends who have children, only two of the four were planned. I have no desire to have children. If I did decide to, I would have to make enough money to support them and myself. If this trend continues the only real population growth will be immigrants. Many immigrants come to the US for work or some type of freedom. If you had no opportunities where you lived, wouldn't you leave too? Survival of the fittest, means that you either adapt or die. We are evolving and we always have been. Get use to the change. Because if you don't, you will end up like my grandfather still calling people "*******, Spics and Chinks," even in my friends' faces. His favored grandson, the first, married into a latin american family. He called her "one of the good ones." That was embarassing. Her family is no different than mine, four generations ago. Just give them time to get use to it here. Maybe they will change our country to something even greater.

Yes..it will remain America no matter what changes take place..Only way to rectify the situation is to vote and let the American voices be heard..We can make laws of our own with the right people in offices that govern laws..America is the country of choice because we are willing to make changes..some for the better some to our detriment but all in all we will always have freedom!

"...the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice"
You mean like the Irish and English and Russians and French and Germans and Greeks and Asians and Scots and Italians and Africans and Polish and Indians and...

Um.... you lost me there for a sec, but I get what you are saying. That is the trouble with a democracy. People make the mistake of thinking it works. 200+ years is but the blink of an eye to a political experiment. I think the Framers had a good plan, we just haven't been able to blend social, economical and technological progress into the original ideas and goals for the nation.

why do you think you are "the country of choice"? and america was built on changes being forced on previous inhabitants by people from other countries.

Americans always become very insular when considering issues such as immigration (ie "people coming HERE to OUR country"); but are very happy to think globally when considering their financial and business stakes (not ratifying Kyoto, lack of true free trade in conjunction with farming subsidies, oil concerns in the Caspian sea etc etc). The USA pisses all over hundreds of countries every day; causing untold suffering; but refuses to deal with the fall-out from this (issues like immigration).
Take your head out of your ****.
PS - I quite like getting bent out of shape; so dont preface your narrow-minded bigotry with metrosexual passive-aggressive bullshit...
PPS - your children's children will be begging to leave for China and India, so teach them tolerance early.

What makes you think yours is the 'country of choice' ?
Yours is the country of desperation !
You will become the Disunited States of America - well, more so than now.

no, we've pretty much lost all of our countries traditions. its just way to clouded and mixed up now. we can never change it back. might as well go find another country and start over...with out all the illegals....wait, they will just ruin this country and then flock to the new one. its hopeless, maybe one day the world we just be one big, happy united states...but no one here is happy about anything this country has...everyone complains...I'm complaining because everyone else is complaining...this is ridiculous!!! i should have just stayed in the military that i way i wouldn't never be here to listen to all this ****...

Hmmm... well, if you want to stop immigration, do it. however, you won't stop progress or integration. I find it very colonial that you refer to yourself as a country of "choice". Why are you so sure that people will want to continue to come to America?? I couldn't see myself emmigrating there.

no one is forcing anyone to do anything...
Republicans have a majority... if they don't like what's happening then they should change it, but they apparently approve of what's happening... so there you go...
Democrats don't have the sway to do anything to stop them... they aren't going to fillabuster an immigration bill right now...
