What language courses do the Peace Corps and United Nations use to teach foriegn languages?

I will be studying Manderine Chinese soon and am looking for a good course to purchase. I need a proven course.

I am looking for answers for my question. The added details are why I'm asking.

The Peace Corps trains in small groups using Host County Nationals as teachers. They usually write their own course. It is the immersion method - memorize dialog, memorize lists.

    (I have one chicken.

    I have two chickens.

    I have three chickens.

    . . .)

    (I was born in June.

    I was born in July.

    . . .)

    (Is that snake dangerous?

    Is that lizard dangerous?

    Is that fish dangerous?

    Is that insect dangerous?

Is that snake good to eat?

Is that lizard good to eat?

    . . .)

The teachers are generally the secondary school language teachers - the equivalent of high-school English teachers in the USA. I suspect you are looking for a course on tape or CD.

I don't know about the Peace Corps, but I know that the language courses at the UN vary according to the language you are learning. IF you tell me which language you are interested in, I might find out what course they are using.
