it is! the brain only stops working because it is starved of blood and oxygen, so if you think about it, it would take at least 30 secs for the brain to shut down, so you could STILL BE CONCIOUS for a bit if your head was cut of. How wierd is that?

During the French Revolution there was a lot of "off with their heads" stuff going on. It was noted in several written accounts that the severed heads displayed life and conscienceness.

That's why many decapitated heads have grimaces on their faces. The reason you die if your head is cut off is the lack of oxygen to the brain (loss of blood). You are actually alive for a short period of time, similar to being in a sleeper hold (same principle of lack of oxygen).

Yes as it is possible even hours after death for a corpse to move or sit up due to muscle spasms. Pretty freaky seen it happen once and almost S**T myself.

yeah it's just nerves twitching, it's like a how a chicken will still run around once you've hacked off it's head

yes, because your nerves still have blood circulating through them for a while, so it's possible to move but only for a second or two
