If you were making a list of books everyone should read before s/he dies ...?

what is the first book that you would think of putting on that list, and why? I'm afraid I'm not after a list of classics or answers such as "The Bible," but books you've read that have been well worth the reading and have meant something to you. Thanks!

    ofcourse every1 shud read the da vinci code and angels and demons b4 dying. it will help them see god im a new light. and remove the wrong conceptions they have of jesus in their minds.
