What are a good set of bicycle tyres for offroad and on road use?

The tyres I have on my Giant Terrango are very basic, and they're prone to getting punctures. Can anyone recommend a good pair of new tyres (26) that I could get that will be grippy enough when riding on dirt tracks, won't be too rough for on road, and won't pick up too many punctures. Thanks.

Go to your local bike shop and ask them to recommend a tire for you. You'll get a better answer there than you will here.

I bought some tyres with Kevlar in the them and haven't had a puncture in two years, It was normal to get three punctures a week, they are hybrid, good for off and on road. There are lots of different brands I wouldn't use any other type.

You need something like the Avocet Cross II tire. This is a 26 x 1.5, on road and off-road. http://www.avocet.com/tirepages/cross_2.html

This tire is also available with a kevlar belt for puncture resistance.

I am a very big fan of Maxxis bike tires. (www.maxxis.com) They have a tire for every condition and type of riding. I am into downhill mountain biking and it can get pretty extreme and the Maxxis holds up great. Check it out and good luck with your choice.
