I have never heard of any software program that took 9 hours to make a music cd. I have even used windows media player 10 to make a cd and it never took that long.

My guess is either the files are messed up audio files. Maybe Windows Media Player doesn't like the format the the audio files are in and are trying to convert them over but having to go a longer route to get in the format it likes to convert to cda file format.

Or maybe it has something to do with the licensing of the song.

You could try defragging your harddrive to make sure that all the files are all together. Any defragmented files and it could take a while, but I don't think it would take 9 hours.

For a last possibility, your cd burner may be taking out. I remember when I had a 4x burner that would take forever to copy a cd and eventually it just timed out. So your cd burner may be taking out. But you said windows media player 9, it works, and 10 it takes forever. So it has got to be a software error.

The next time your format your harddrive, install windows media player 10 right from the start and see if you can burn cds as quick then.

    Open mp10.

    Click th burn tab.

To the right of "Edit Playlist" there should be a little piece of paper with a red check mark on it.

    Click it.

Set the "Select write speed" to fastest.

If that is already checked select the highest number.

    Click apply and then ok.

    Viola.
