Is it true they found real fire-breathing dragon-like creatures in Siberia/Russia?
Today, in science class, my friend James was stating they found real fire-breathing dragon-like creatures in the vast Siberia/Russia. The class laughed at him and he says it's true and he saw it on TV. I would like a web url leading to info and some other stuff. By the way, James is a fantasy kid. He is really wierd and keeps goin on about final fantasy and fantasy video games with dragons and fairies and sword fighting in manga style.

No, it's not true. I used to live in Siberia (Amur Oblast to be exact) and there are no fire breathing anything. There aren't even very many reptiles of the non-fire-breathing variety (the summers can be quite warm in some places but there is a reason that Siberia is known for it cold winters). I went hiking in the hills, read about the area quite a lot, read the local and national papers and went to the Oblast museum which has a large natural history section, complete with taxidermic examples of the regions fauna, none of which were fire breathing. Siberia does have tigers though, and the musk deer (look it up) which looks like a small regular deer but with fangs like a saber toothed tiger.
Still, don’t be too hard on this guy. He is obviously lonely and looking for something to make himself interesting. Try being friendly to him and he might turn out to be a really cool guy in his own right. Or maybe he won’t, but at least you can have pride in yourself that you are an honorable person that doesn’t make others feel bad just because you can.

No it is not true. I think what he is referring to is
a mock documentary that was on the discovery channel a few
weeks ago. It was a show that was done to make it look
like they had discovered dragon bones in an arctic cave.
The show went on with the life of the dragons, how they
were able to produce fire, what they ate, etc.
they showed how the scientists had pieced together the bones and what the dragons would look like. they even recreated scenes of man hunting the dragons.
It was a good show, but alas it was just fictional.
If I remember right Patrick Stewart did the voice over
for the show.
I think this is what your friend saw

you might want to send him to the link so that he
realizes that it was just a fake show and not real.

The closest thing to a modern day dragon is on the island of Kumodo. The ancient legends most likely began after people uncovered Dinosaur bones. Not understanding fossilization or carbon dating, they assumed the bones couldn't be more than a few hundred years old, and created myths. Most of the ancient monster myths are most likely due to misunderstanding the remains of extinct creatures

He probably caught the special they have on Discovery where they did a "what if" dragons had been real thing and tell all about how they found one and how its biology was. My step dad caught the tail end of it and told me about it so I searched it up. Its all fake but they don't state that anywhere in the production. And it is very well done!

He watched one of Discovery Channel's better shows, "world of dragons" or some such. It's not at all accurate. However, you can tell him that some creatures do indeed breathe fire, like the bombardier beetle- or actually help him and disillusion the kid.

No dragons are a myth, never existed, some Chinese found dinosaurs bones and as the emperor scientist could not explain it he invented the dragon theory to save his head.
