How much are you suppose to tip your hair stylist?
I have an hair apt with a new stylist at a salon a little more upscale then the previous salon. I have never tipped before and feel I should.

10 to 20 percent depending on how good it is and what you can afford just like at restaurants.

like all tips - 15% is the standard, 20% if it's especially good service. i go with 20% cuz it's eaasier to figure out. 2 x the cost and only use the first two digits. example, $30 hair cut x 2 = 60. tip is $6.

i leave 25 %. if you have enough money to get your hair done for over 100 dollars, you should have enough to leave an extra 20 dollars at least for the person that did it. it aggrivates me to read what uneducated people believe is right. the girl in front of me wrote "depends on what you can afford." if you cant afford a tip, you shouldnt be eating out or getting a service done to and for you. service people dont make money from their place of business. i make 2 dollars an hour from my restaurant.

15% is sufficient...more if you are feeling generous and they did a fantastic job!
10% to colorists or anyone else who works on your hair.
Don't forget to tip two..three dollars whoever washes your hair!
