When your motor is running the transmission is pumping tranny fluid through it to keep it cool. Just like your motor pumps antifreeze while it is running to keep it cool. So in order to get an accurate measurement of the transmission fluid the car must be running but it does not matter if you check it in park or neutral. I suggest checking it in park so the car does not roll away from you.

    Hope i have been helpful.

    GET RID OF IT!!!!!!

Blazer's are the most pathetic excuse for a vehicle I've ever seen! The price of fixing the transmission will be over $700, not to mention it WILL go out again! And the transmission is just the beginning of your problems, trust me!

If you've got the jewels, your best bet is to get some good full coverage insurance & torch that hunk of junk to smitherines... you MIGHT get 1/4 of what you paid for it. Nobody wants the stupid things, since buying one I completely understand why.

I have always heard that to check the trans. fluid you need to have you car off and cool, on a flat surface. To check the motor oil you car should be warm, but off and on a flat surface. As far as it being in park or neutral, I don't know but I don't think I would take my chances with it in neutral!!

engine running, parking brake set, trans in neutral, on level ground. when its in park, fluid is not always flowing thru where it is supposed to.
