Who wants bilingual children and why?

If you live in United States and have English speakers children, would you like for them to become fluent in another language too? What language and why?

    i do...the second or third languages can depend on which part of US you live...but most popular and useful ones are spanish, french, chinese...also, if you, the parents are immigrants and can speak another language, you should encourage your children speak their mother language....

    Yes. Actually in Europe, you expected to know three or four languages. It is easier to learn when you are young. I think it would be great to know Spanish and Japanese. Spanish because of the changing US population and Japanese because of the great animation from Japan.

    Because, contrary to popular but ignorant belief....there are other countries in this world that some may want to visit and other people come here speaking other languages that some may want to help and it may be part of their history as well... many reasons...

    If they choose to learn another language, it is fine. However, good old American English is good enough and they can be proud to speak it.

    i have to teach my kid more than one language especially because he's a mix of different ethnicities. he's gotta learn arabic, spanish, english, and i would like to do italian. it opens up doors and breaks down barriers.

    i have one daughter that is bilingual in french and has allowed here many more job opportunities in a lot of different trades

    I would like for my children to know Spanish. I would also like to know Spanish. I know some, but not very much.

    So they can learn other cultures and be diffent than the arrogant american people who don't learn about other cultures or languages.

    its easer to get into collage if your bilingual
