Are you from DC or living there now?

I am moving to DC in 2 weeks. I would like to know the areas to stay away from (crime).

I have called the DC police for crime statistics to no avail.

Thanks in advance

I do. There's a lot of nice places in DC, but stay away from southeast DC. It's not all bad there, but it is considered the area with the most crime.

Keep in mind that the DC area is expensive so you might want to live in the outskirts (which is actually where I live and it's called the DC area). Places in Maryland like Silver Spring and White Oak and places in VA like Falls Church are just a short drive/metro ride away. The outskirts of DC are still expensive, but not as expensive as living in DC.

    Hope this helps.

No, I don't live there, but my aunt and uncle used to live there...I LOVE D.C. because it's a big city but no skyscrapers and it feels like a small town at times. They lived in Springfield, it's about 20 minutes away, and it's really nice. Like the answer above me, you might want to live outside of the actual city. I'm sorry I couldn't really answer your question, though.
