How do you remove nicotine stains from white textured walls without repainting?

My grandmother who is over 80 + years old still smokes like a paper mill factory. She bought a brand new home Approx 10 years ago. Now the home is ruined with heavy nicotine stains all over the walls. We removed a clock on the wall , and it left a clean white circle on the wall. Now she knows what it is doing to her lungs... But continues to smoke . Can you believe it. She has smoked since she was 12 years old. Can't quit. No one in the family can stay in the house but just a few minutes. We all go for a visit and have to sit out on the deck.. It's that bad. People who smoke have got to be the dumbest (excuse me grandma) people in the whole freakin world. Ohh yeah , there is nothing this side of painting your walls again, that you can do .... sorry.

You can try using this stuff called TSP (tri-sodium phosphate), get it at the hardware store. Usually it's used to remove grease from walls before painting, it might work on nicotine stains too. It's a really powerful cleaner and pretty corrosive so be sure to wear gloves and read all the instructions.

Hi, I had the same problem. Paint won't cover it, unless your using a dark color. If your going to paint it white, use primer first. The good stuff on the market. Then you should be ok. Till this day, I have had no problems with the nicotine. It's been over 10 yrs now

There is this stuff called Mean Green here where I live, It works miracles on walls and counter tops as well that are stained spray and wipe is all you have to do. Also oxywash will work. If you have a Wal-Mart both products should be there.

your best bet is to use KILZ and repaint, nicotine is layered and you will take forever and still not get it all off! Cleaners may take off the standing paint and then you will have a real mess!

Nicotine is oily and oh so nasty. So even though you don't want to, I think you should use KILZ and repaint.

If your walls are painted with flat paint you will have to re-paint. If this happens I suggest that you use a high grade satin or semi gloss in the future.

move out of your crack houe and then pay someone to burn it down - smoking inside is like crapping on your bed.
