EXACTLY how many types of football are there?

Yahoo! Answers seems to have a football category for many countries. I thought there were only two types: American football and football/soccer. So EXACTLY how many types of football are there? Is it just that these soccer ones have slightly different rules?

    OK, you have the soccer ones, which most countries call football. The USA, as you know has NFL. Australia has soccer, rugby league, rugby union, and Austalian Rules football. Ireland has a Gaelic football. The Irish and Australians play an international series which is a hybrid of Gaelic and Australian football. England has soccer, rugby league and rugby union.

    Football is football wherever you are. It's just a variation on the rules. The game of rugby is actually called Rugby Football in the purest sense of the word and came from a game of football when the person picked up the ball and ran with it. The rest is history. The roots of football go back into the old medieval European Villages when a competion would be between two neighbouring villages, literally everyone got in on the game. There were no rules and it wasn't uncommon for people to get killed. Picking it up etc etc was all part of the game. The goals would be at the entrances to the opposing village. I have no knowledge of this but I'm sure the basics of it could be traced into the ancient civilisations. So not really anything but a variation on a theme. Hope that helps

    American Football - NFL, National Football League football.

    Canadian Football - CFL. Plays by slightly different rules than NFL. 3 downs instead of 4, the field is 110 yards long instead of 100, the end zone is 20 yars deep instead of 10.

    Australian football - A more physical version of Rugby, not really football.

    As for the soccer categories, each one deals with a different geographical area. Different continents and countries have their own soccer (football) leagues, and there are different categories because, for example, people interested in South American soccer might have no interest in European soccer, but the game itself is the same.

    Don't forget, within American football there are variations. The NFL, AFL, NCAA, and high schools all play variations of the same game. In some areas small schools play 6 man football. There is also touch football and flag football.

    There are several;

    Soccer, Futsil (indoor soccer) American Pro, American College, American Arena (indoor) Canadian, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Rugby 7's Australian Rules and several variations of flag and touch football.

    We guys just sit around and think this stuff up. Hope this helps.

    It's all mixed up 'cause in America, guys prefer to call Rugby Football and The Real Football- Soccer!!

    There are only two types-

    1- Rugby- The sport in which you grab the ball and run. Americans call it football, God knows why.

    2- Football- The sport in which you use your feet to hit the ball, hence its name "football". In America, its called soccer.

    The rest types are created just to avoid confusion between the two types, I guess.

    Okay, it's probably one of three things: 1. your wife really doesn't care that much whether your reconciliation works out or not. 2. she's just testing you, waiting for you to say what you want. 3. she already knows she doesn't want the reconciliation and is just biding her time until Jan. 1. As usual with your wife and her ambiguous reactions and behavior, something smells foul. It really does sound like she's just given up and whatever happens, happens or that she is planning on it not working out. Now, is your wife the kind of person who often says the opposite of what she means? - Because she just told you she doesn't care and to do what you want. It really doesn't sound like your marriage, reconciliation is working out because: your wife and you don't communicate very well about the really important and tough things, no honesty, trust issues, you being attracted to other women and acting like a nervous teenager around them, your wife seemingly pushing you into the arms of a waiting woman, and (as I mentioned before) her secretive nature and ambiguity. Your wife and to some extent, your life, is a puzzle. One never knows what to expect in your next posting.

    Olga is a Polish sounding name,if she isn't Polish she is at least from that Baltic region,Claire knows you like that type of women,a woman like Krystka.I think she was trying to slam you by saying that she is your type though,as if saying all you could get is a cashier at Walmart if she went away,it seems that sometimes she can be a snob,then again she can lower herself to a trailer park rat,I think Claire is the crazy chick here,as for Olga,well she may be crazy too,but she sure is fun to look at.Was Claire dropping you an early hint as to whats going to happen in January,sounds like it to me.
