What do you do when you can't find something around your house?

When you can't find a something around your house, what do you do? Do you mess up the whole house until you find it? Do you move on with life and wait until it shows up? Retrace your steps? I lost my cell phone today and i've looked all over my house and basically it looks like a tornado hit this place and I still didn't find it. It's so frustrating to lose things. I'm just wondering what people do. Serious answers please. :)

Update:

I did think of that but unfortunately my cell phone was turned off, thanks though.

I think back to the last time I saw it and retrace my steps from there (even the little things, like opening and closing the refrigerator door). Something along the way will jog my memory.

For my cell phone I call it from my house phone or from my husband's cell phone.

Otherwise I say a prayer--Jesus lost, Jesus found. I don't know if it works but it calms me and I think more clearly and find it right away... oh, I guess it works!

I would retace my steps as best as I can, and if that fails, I would ask my husband to look for it. He's the go-to man for lost things in the house. LOL

My wife messes up the house looking for things she gets very flustrated. When I'm looking for something and cant find it I simply give up looking for it, then I usually see it under my nose when I don't need it.

I tend to do hust what you describe, followed by going out and replacing it. Of course, after I replace whatever I lost, it tends to show up the next day.

I take a deep breath and ask myself, "Is this a life and death issue?" Then I do what I would have done after that. It will come to you.

My mother used to say "Pray to Saint Anthony, Finder of Lost Articles." Dunno why but sometimes it works.
