It was her husband(Anna-beths) and he was hit by a drunk driver on his way to pick up the baby and he was killed.
to respond to the persons response below...... they may not have shown him in a morgue, but he was still in his tattered clothing...... no tubes machines or anything hooked up to him.

But he may not be dead, they didn't show him in the morgue, he was in a room at the hospital, and no one said he was dead??? Season finale anything goes..
