After about 10 min of normal running my computer slows down, how can I fix it?
After about 10 min of normal running my computer slows down exponentially, and I can't do anything at all. At that point it will take +5 minutes to close a window. In safe mode my computer runs fine, and I don't get this problem at all. I've run an updated Norton-Antivirus full system scan, as well as a Microsoft Defender system scan, both came up with nothing. P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 Ram, XP Pro SP2, Radeon 9600. I'm trying to avoid having to format my hard drive. What is this and/or how can I fix it?

Hi there!
There may be several reasons for this to happen. Just because you have run a norton antivirus full system scan dont be ensured that you are free from virus like threats. If not norton, try something else. I suggest that you install System Mechanic and run the system maintenance wizard. This will do a lot of things right from performing registry maintenance to deleting unwanted files from your hard disk drive. You then open the start up manager provided with the same software and check if anything else unknown is getting started with the operating system. Make sure that you have enabled page file and you have given enough of free hard disk space for the operating system to use page file(s).
