Why is ipod considered "an industry standard' when it doesn't even allow you to change your batteries?
That one detail to me makes everything else moot. I am wondering wht is no. 2 in the mp3 player market.

The iPod is popular because of its tight integration with the iTunes software.
Players with removable batteries tend to be larger and more cumbersome, but if I recall, the Zen Micro has a removable battery. You'll have to use Windows Media Player, but it's gotten a lot better in the past few years.
If you're looking for the best combination of Hardware and Software, though, the iPod is definitely the best choice.

Hard to say, because the no.2 MP3 player changes every day. The reason for that is because the sales for other MP3 Players other than the iPod is so low, it's like those other players don't exist. I'm so sorry, but nobody can really say.
