What is the evolutionary advantage of guys being strong?

The first point to note is that all our closest relatives have males that are much larger than the females. What that tells us is that the idea that it is because men hunt is so much bullshit. Gorillas and orangs don't hunt, and female chimps hunt just as much as the males.

The reasons men are bigger and stronger than women is because of the way the sexes compete for mating rights. Women compete by beauty and establishing social position. Men compete by beating the snot out of each other.

It really is that simple. Men need to be big so they can hit other men harder. Bigger guys usually win fights and thus have fist claim on women. Size gives no advantage when it comes to female competitive strategies like attractiveness and social interaction. As a result male apes are large and female apes remain small.

Nothing whatsoever to do with hunting or caring for children. All great apes have males larger than the females, and they are larger because the males beat each other up.

Interestingly the smaller apes, the gibbons and so forth,0 have males and females exactly the same size. And male gibbons never fight each other for mating rights.

Back in the stoneage then there was no PC or sexism, it was the men that went out and hunted, while the there more likly to gaither berries or look after the childern.

Men that there faster than there counterparts got more food than those that where weak. Those that were able to provide food though hunting mated more and passed on there genes to the next gendation etc etc etc. Over time the strength of men build up as it is nowdays.

strength is good for carrying back prey and other such menial tasks. the short spurt may count for fighting and protecting the women. and keep in mind that have been more effected by sexual selection than natural selection for sometime now, maybe the most important advantage is that women find strong men sexually attractive there by giving them more chances to procreate.

Simple. We are animals that formed hunting/gathering societies thousands of years ago. Men evolved to be the hunter and women evolved to be the gatherer. It is a pervasive construct of the animal kingdom. It wasn't pre-ordained, or the result of women being inferior in any way, it's just necessary for the survival of the species. Elegant and simple.

Males are evolutionarily expendable. This is due to the higher variance of reproductive success amongst males (who can father lots or zero children) compared to females (who generally have a few offspring, but rarely have lots or none).

The way that a male gets to father many offspring is by besting other males for mating rights. Animals, whether they be lions, deer, gorillas, stag beetles or humans, who have social structures that include physically fighting for mates (unlike, for example, male birds, who sing and have pretty colors) tend to evolve larger, stronger males.

Women must devote time and energy to child birthing and raising. Men must provide for mother and baby.

Guys being strong is so they can beat the hell out of me, and they can throw me around. I love being dominated by men, and i wouldn't want it any other way.

Killing dinner. Hunting is also usally a quick burst of energy for the kill.
