The National Lottery Big Question!?

Well, folks - I don't really know if this type of question has been asked before (I guess it has in some form or manner!) but anyway, here it is.

I need someone who is good at math stuff here:

The Lotto number choice is from 1 to 49...

You get to pick 6 of those...

Get 6 right and Jackpot is on your way!

But how do the stats work on this - I mean, I know it depends on the amount of players and money gambled - but they say my chances of pulling the 'BIGGY' are about 13.9 million to 1.

Any clues, all you pythagorasus' out there?

actually in NC we just started this nonsense called the lottery, your chances of hitting the big one, is around 145 million to one...(not very good)

Source(s): btw, we call it... the education lottery... yes we say that to support our children's education, we must get in gambling business to have money for children... very very strange politicians in NC
