Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Has anyone actually taken the advice off others in yahoo answers and done it?

Yes, the only question I have asked is how to get decorative snow off the windows and I was told to use a razor blade to scrape it off and then go over it with Windex. I did and it worked perfectly, I was so amazed after a couple days of trying to clean my windows that I asked this question, got like 5 or 6 answers in a couple minutes, that actually worked, that I haven't stopped answering questions on here yet. I will soon become a level 6 and I don't know if I should be proud or feel pathetic that I've spent so much time on here! =)

There was definitely an unplanned outage Saturday afternoon (June 3rd) for a few hours. During this time we were unable to answer, comment, vote, rate, and even respond to messages sent through Answers. Occasionally, some people were able to ask questions and post comments. Some people were even able to answer a question or two. But, eventually, the entire site went into read only mode with no modifications allowed.

In response to the "We have run out of ink..." message that this outage generated, one of the Answers developers posted the following messages on the team blog and on the community forum.

    ===========

Team blog post (this may disappear once the site is back online for edits)

"Oops. Answers is currently experiencing some problems. Sorry! We had a slight hiccup in our database one day ahead of schedule. We are bringing the system back up in a few hours. The Official Downtime we announced in the previous blog will still start on Sunday morning (California, USA time).

We'll delete this blog entry once the problem is solved. (in case you were going to leave comments).

    (Embarrassed Yamster)"

    And in the forum,

"Yup, we goofed. We had a glitch in our system, and the system went down a day early. We are bringing it back up in a few hours, so please be patient. Currently, you can't answer/ask/vote/rate questions.

The official downtime is still Sunday morning (California, USA time)."

I have had some very good and useful advice on here. or I would not stay.

You have to be able to know the difference between sound advice.

OR the silly garbage, that is sometimes thrown around for fun

You will usually get good answers to well written and thought out questions .

I have. I use Yahoo Answers, info off the web and also other sources and put it all together to help me make decisions on issues in my life. Sometimes the Yahoo answerers think of ideas of resolving things that I haven't thought of. It has helped me.

no - i think many people get useful info about their query. Some of the answers are really very informative. Its like- u need to have the acumen to separate wheat from chaff, and the dumb answers make u smile- so its a double benefit offer

If you ask specific questions for help with computers software, cars, etc anything tangible, you will get good answers. On personal stuff NO.

    No, I haven't....

...but on your Yahoo 360 page, why are all the pictures little and sideways. Luckily I was on my laptop and could just spin it around...

On some stuff, I don't usually bother with the moral questions though, as they tend to be rhetorical..
