Personally, I would go with the Passat - better build quality, less likely to have problems, and will hold it's value compared to the Vectra.

Definitely the VW, no comparison.
My dad has a passat and I often drive it, it is a great car, handles well. I have driven a Vectra as a hire car and it is rubbish in comparison.

I would chose the VW Passat. The Vectra is nice but the passat is even better. The passat may be more expensive but you will have a higher quality vehicle with the passat.

I drive a Passat and love it - no complaints. Handles beautifully in all weather conditions (it's front wheel drive), corners like a dream - I have the turbo charged engine vroom.
