How to hit a ball down the line?

I am a outside hitter, righty. I always intend to hit ball cross the court when i am on strong side. How can I approach the ball in order to hit it hard down the line to avoid experienced blockers.

A few words of advice...Hitting against 'experienced blockers' is all about trickery. Try approaching the ball like you would to hit the ball cross-court. This will make the 'experienced blocker' think that you are hitting the ball angle. The majority of indoor blockers block in front of the hitter's angle of approach. Let the set go across your body a little farther than you usually would, then bring your arm across your body to hit the ball down the line. You'll find that this motion is less powerful than your usual angle shot, but allows you to avoid the block. A well-placed shot down the line at 80% of your usual arm swing is better than a hard hit into an established block. Once you hit one or two of these shots, they will have to respect your line shot, which makes them have to cover more area with their block. This often results in holes in the block and more opportunities to put more power behind your swing. Remember, you will inevitably get blocked. It happens to all of us. Make sure to jump as high as you can, contact the ball as high as you can, and never lose confidence. Good luck!

Try to use the same approach or the blocker will eat you up. Hit the ball a little more in front of you. Pull hard with your left arm and rotate your shoulders to go down the line. Remember, it is much shorter when you go line instead of crosscourt. However, a shot with less velocity may be effective, so work on something that is "in" even if it isn't your most powerful hit. Also, if the blocker is overplaying you, practice going off her outside hand and out of bounds.

Use your shoulder and hips. Remember it's like serving, the ball usually goes where your shoulders and hips are facing.

Going line is a good way to get around good blockers ones or twice, but good blockers will change what they are doing, and if the team is good, the defence will get the ball on the like anyways. To really get to a team, hit the ball hard a couple of times and then tip it to an open spot.

Hitting on the line also requires a good set. It has to be in the right spot for it to work. Ask your setter to stay after practice one day and work with you for awhile!

hmm...well the best thing to do is to approach the ball the same way every time...that way, no one can tell where you are going to hit it.

how i hit line though is i kind of turn my shoulders so it kind of faces the net and i swing down...i don't know -hard to explain.

however, with experienced blockers- you might want to consider all the other ways to hit a vball as well instead of trying to slam it.

its not about the approach. All about the arm swing and where your body is facing. Ask your coach and they can explain and tweek it.

For the blocking thing....if you can't avoid them, tool them. Play the ball off their hands, or if they aren't close enough together, go right thrugh the gap inbetween their hands.

For this type of question, you should really go to your coach, he can make your body go through the movements and....well that just works for me better...might for some people too
