How to do quick and clear spins in hip hop dance?

I am new in hip hop dance and really like it. However, I am having problem to do spins and easily lose balance on the process. Can anyone out there give me some tips on that?

Update:

specifically, I don't know how to control balance when I drag one leg around the other and stop the dragging leg behind. I feel much easier when the stop is a jumping stop with both leg slightly open...

That's good so you are a new member of our group, welcome! To start with the turn you should stablished your balance even before turning, so that you will not loose it easily. You have to bend your upper body forward and open up your leg a bit then cross a leg in preparation for the turn. For more easier turn try to tiptoe while turning and land on flat. You know it's a lot better to teach a dance step face to face, but maybe your miles away or if you have friends who dance hiphop or attend a class would be the best specially for begginers like you. Hope I help you turn better.

    Hey There...

In hip-hop there's a couple of things to consider. You want to stay grounded. Meaning: get low, bend your knees, think about your pelvis dropping towards the floor.

Second-and this one's important- use your belly to bring your weight forward. A lot of people make the mistake of pulling their shoulders back, thus, falling out of the turn. Use your abs to hold your torso as still as possible. If you look at yourself sideways in the mirror, your shoulders should be right above your hip bones. Use your abs to make sure you stay like this when you turn.

I betya your turns will be 100% better just by trying those two things.
