Did the All-American Rejects get their name from the Green Day song "Reject" or is that just a coincidence?
the quote, "your reject all-American," is from the Nimrod album [1997].
I've tried google and all that jazz, but I haven't found a reliable enough source.

My friend, who's usually in the know and usually right about these things, sid that they got their name because they all left other bands to form their own band - hence they were rejects from other bands.

okay i was reading an iterveiw with them in people magazine and it says the wanted names for a band which was just nick and tyson to start with and some yelled out reject and some one yelled all american that is what the band said in the interveiw.

I'm thinking it had a bearing on there name... ya know.. they were listening to that song one day and are like "hey that sounds cool... reject All American... but we should change it to All American Rejects" ya know?
