The link? There isn't one. except for maybe they both have similar words--like names of the constellations and planets.
The doctor in the delivery room exerted more gravitational pull on you than any planet did as you were born. So, what does the position of the planets and stars have to do with anything? Nothing. Before science and Astronomy explained what was really going on, the mythos of Astrology tried to.
The Zodiac is a set of constellations which lie in the ecliptic. Since most of the planets' orbits are co-planar (Pluto has a somewhat eccentric one), the planets appear to travel (planet means wanderer in like Greek or something) through the different constellations. Astrologers believed that the position of the planets and constellations at the time of an individual's birth pre-determined certain aspects of the person and their life's events. This is all okay except for that whole free will thing kinda messes up the predetermination stuff.

Better: Astronomy without Astrology. There can be no Astrology without Astronomy. Astronomy is the basis for Astrology.

Astrology is derived from the attempt that Hellenistic astronomers made to understand astronomy and other aspects of the universe. They had a very mystical view of how things work. They were wrong, and modern astronomy has nothing to do with astrology.

Astronomy is the scientific study of stars, and astrology is the occult study of specific alignments of stars. Whether a true "science" is involved in astrology remains debatable.
The link between the two is that the stars and their positions are involved. That's about all.

They're both the study of the sky. Astronomy just takes it literally and keeps track of what's going on in the sky. Astrology takes it to a spiritual level and deciphers what the sky is telling us.

Astronomy is science based on true scientific facts
Astrology is based on a load of superstitious old bullsh*t that's completely inaccurate with regards to what's really happening in space, as explained here: http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/astrology.htm...

astronomy is about the understanding planets, stars, the universe as whole. astrology is about the horoscopes and star signs. the link i would say is the fact they they both study planetary movements.
astrology does not come from Hellenic people as "mathematician" has mentioned. it was originally discovered in ancient Mesopotamia, today's Iraq Southeast of Turkey northern west of Iran. much of the images such as the Leo, Capricorn, Sagittarius and much more comes directly from them. however much of what we know today is very different from what they believed then.

The only link is that astrology uses constellations in the sky. These constellations are located on the zodiac. Thats the only similarity, both astrologers and astronomers use these constellations, though for different reasons.

No link whatsoever. Astronomy is a science. Astrology is that hocus-pocus Bull crap.
