Recently, I have encountered a problem with my pc. When I try to open a folder (I have open a few other folders at that time), sometimes it took too long to open the new folder. There were a few times where the pc just stop operating before a message saying "msexplorer has encountered problems". How can I rectify these problem. Do I have to reinstall my windows (I'm using windows xp home edition).
My pc specs are 1) Pentium 4 1.5. 2) RAM 256. 3)Hard Disk 80 Gig.

Virus Problem..... No need to reinstall windows... you can do system restore....
start menu> programs > Accesories> system tools> system restore and choose the date to be restore..... ( it'll take your computer to the chosen date... and state)

How much RAM does your computer have?
It needs at least 256 meg RAM, and would be better if you had 512 RAM.
You can do an XP repair, if you wish, trying to fix any operating system (xp) corrupted files, in troubleshooting this issue.

if the problem is apeared recently
try to restore the windows .
start ->All programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore -> restore my computer ....
