    3 steps:

    1) check if the harddrive is well fixed in your PC box. If not, it's own vibrations can "disturb" the mechanism

    2) Check if your firewall is ON

Download anti-spyware program, then launch it.

Then go to Control Panel, add/remove ALL programs you don't need anymore.

Then check all clusters, by defragmenting your hard drive.

    If still too slow...

    3) save all your files, and format the drive

    Good luck!

I am so sorry for this problem that you are facing but lets try fixing this problem.

Do you get a lot of pop ups coming on your computer? Or your system acting crazy like doing suspicious things?

1> If yes once when the PC comes to the desktop please update your existing anti virus software and run a full scan on your computers hard drive.

2> defragment your computers hard drive by going to start> all programs> accessories> system tools> disk defragmenter

see if that fixes your problem. If not go to control panel and uninstall all programs from your computer which you do not need, and then try again.

If the problem still persist, please backup your data, format and then reinstall XP back again. That should fix your problem if it is not an hardware issue. Best of luck. Hope that answers your question.

It sounds as if your computer has spyware and/or adware on it that needs to be removed. There are a couple of things you can do to clean it up. First, download, install and scan your computer with Ad-Aware SE Personal:

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Just let it scan your computer, and let it remove all of the stuff that it finds.

Then download, install, update and scan your computer with Spybot Search & Destroy:

    http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000...

Again, allow the program to scan and remove all of the junk it finds on your computer.

Unfortunately, these two programs, as good as they are, often don't get all of the spyware out of your computer, because spyware makers design new spyware all of the time, and often write their programs so that normal cleaning programs like those above won't work. So I would also recommend you going to the Tech Support Guy forum and registering as a member, and starting a thread in the Security forum there. The experts there will clean your computer up free of charge. Sometimes on weekends and holidays you will need to be patient, as they do this on a voluntary basis:

    Good luck!

    First try this.

Go to start> run> type MSCONFIG:

Click on the startup tab, choose "disable all"

    Then:

go to start> run> type chkdsk /f then restart your computer-

After chkdsk is completed, try doing a system defrag as well.

    Hope this helps.
