Do guys like getting love letters?

Really, yes, we do. In the first few years of a relationship, we wrote constantly (way before this newfangled internet thingy) called on the telephone, and after the first year, she started college 70 miles away from me and she had a roomie with a car, so they would come down to visit (a lot after her roomie started going with one of my apartment mates), or sometimes, I'd take a bus up.

Anyway, about the love letters, the relationship lasted 11 years (she got her PhD and moved to California) and it was after 6 or 7 years when she put our engagement on the back burner, saying our relationship was too distracting, that she stopped writing nearly as much. What had started as 3 or 4 times a WEEK dropped to 1 or 2 a MONTH.

But it allowed us to savor the relationship. Although it was nice to be face to face, being able to write allowed (at least, for me) to really think about the depth of my love and try to find the right words to express it. And to share what was going on in our lives.

Have you ever paid attention to some of the letters from the Civil War and the Revolutionary War that have been being released recently? I am often dumbstruck by the eloquence of the letters that cannot be captured in the initials and symbols used in today's correspondence, coupled with the love pouring forth even after all these years, from a time one wouldn't imagine people even thinking about love in those terms.

But again, yes, guys like getting love letters.
